We are the Sharing Table, a registered charity in England and Wales with charity number 1190056. 

We are a data controller which means we are responsible for deciding how we collect and use your personal information. 

This privacy notice sets out how we treat your personal information when you visit our website, make a donation or take part in our activities or projects. 

What do we collect? 

We collect personal information when you access our site, when we support you through one of our projects and when you make a donation to us. What we collect will depend on the reason we work with you. 

If you access our website to use our “contact us” page, we will collect your contact details required for us to do this. This may include your name, email address, telephone number and any other information you provide to us. 

If you make a donation to us we will collect your contact details, details of your donation and your gift aid declaration. 

If we provide support to you through one of our activities we may collect your contact details and address. 

We will also collect and use information about your visit to our site, such as your IP address or mobile device identifier, location, browser type, referral source, length of visit and number of page views.

Why do we collect this information and what is our lawful basis? 

We collect your contact details in order to contact you as requested. It is in our legitimate interest to respond to your questions and contact you if you have asked us to do so. 

We collect information about your donations to keep records and for the administration of the charity. We may use your information to contact you to say thank you, to let you know about our fundraising activities and other news about the charity we think might interest you. It is in our legitimate interest to for the administration of the charity and for our fundraising activities. 

We collect information about the people we support in order to support you and involve you in our activities. It is in our legitimate interest for the operation of the charity and in order to deliver our projects. 

We collect information about your visit to our site in order to improve our website, administer it and improve your user experience. It is in our legitimate interest to improve our website and make sure it is relevant and functional. 

Who has access to your information? 

Our trustees may have access to your data if they need it for the operation of the charity.

We may share information about you with our partner organisations, such as local schools, food banks and the MPs office, our regulator, HMRC and grant providers but only to the extent necessary for good governance of our charity and where we have a legal obligation to do so. If you don’t want us to share your information with a particular third party please let us know. 

How long do we keep the information? 

We keep your personal information in accordance with the data protection laws which requires us to keep data for as long as it is necessary. Once the purpose for which we hold your information has been achieved and we do not have a legal, regulatory or other need for it, we will securely delete your information. 

What rights do you have?
